The self-important pseudo-intellectual writers of this site never get Mann right. Really, ALI never found the depths of the politics surrounding him? The whole first hour is a Malcolm X/Ali duo-biopic and the majority of the second act focuses on his deep emotional/political fight with the U.S. gov\’t after refusing draft. Also, as noted already, HEAT is his best film….THE INSIDER is just his best reviewed by critics and benefits from the well-intentioned smack down of corporate tobacco giants.

"The Set-Up" was released in 1949, not 1942. (You even refer to it as being made the same year as "Champion," which is correctly listed as 1949.)

"Michael Mann followed up what still remains the best film of his career, "The Insider,"" i\’m not even gonna correct your punctuation there, i just wanted to express my dismay with you saying that as if it\’s a universally recognized fact. what about "heat"? i actually think most people would consider heat mann\’s best film.
