Don't watch Downloading Nancy. It's awful, in fact many of the films at the top of this list turned out to be rather terrible, or definitely look it.

I'd also skip, Whiteout, The Goods, She's Out of My League, I Love You, Beth Cooper, and Away We Go is said to be pretty bad too.

The Arthouse stuff at the bottom is the best stuff here (and Sin Nombre).

Look forward to seeing Downloading Nancy and Primitive.
Glad to hear Bela Tarr is another film as I thought The Man from London was his last. Hope he continues film-making.

PS i saw Manderlay, it was an interesting failure. Not horrible however, just not great.

I think he has given up on it. At least for now. I never did see Manderlay, but it was pretty poorly received. Dogville however, was brilliant. I know, i know I’ve been meaning to see it for years and eventually will, but there’s always something much more important.

a) I think Reese Witherspoon was supposed to be on Whiteout, or another movie about the first murder in Antarctica. I can't remember about the first time I heard about this movie/concept.

b) So von Trier is totally giving up on the Dogville trilogy?

“Away We Go” sounds just odd enough to work–strange casting and all. I think Mendes could be a very good comic director; there are some very funny scenes in Jarhead and American Beauty. I also don’t really see this being a straight forward comedy with Eggers writing the script, but who knows?
