Hou Hsiao-hsien\’s film is aiming for a Cannes premier. In Chinese interviews he talked about how part of the long post-production for "The Assassin" is apparently going to be on getting the special effects down(Hou and special effects? Surreal, I know…)

I\’m more than interested to see the next project of Werner Herzog – "Queen of the Desert" and Terry Malick\’s next effort… Usually, neither of them gets (got) the attention they deserved with their past masterpieces. When it comes to awards circuit, it\’s all about the politics and the campaign the studios follow in terms of getting the right attention. SO at the end of the day, for me it wont matter if a certain movie doesn\’t make it inside the "game zone".

Well, it didn\’t miss the festival season, but after seeing a preview of the film, I am really surprised that In The Heart Of The Sea (Ron Howard) is not set for release for an award run, but instead in March. From what I saw it has all the components of an Oscar worthy film.
