I have this scene stuck in my head from a cult film from the 80\’s but don\’t know exactly where it belongs. His family finally gets the guy out and take him for a burger. But he\’s been brainwashed that eating meat is bad, so he goes to the bathroom to get the satan out. Is that Ticket to Heaven, Split Image or that made-for-teevee McNichol sibling movie?

There is a film called The Conspiracy that came out a few years back. Two documentary filmmakers researching the "elite" infiltrate a cult gathering and end up being hunted. Kind of a Bohemian Grove situation. It\’s very low budget but entertaining enough.

Nice call on \’Split Image\’ and \’Ticket to Heaven,\’ both forgotten movies. Also, I\’d add Ti West\’s \’House of the Devil\’ (that\’s sort of about a cult, right?). And was the omission of \’The Master\’ an oversight or was it not considered a cult?

Some great choices on this list (Suspiria, The Devils, and The Wicker Man especially), but I would definitely add As It is in Heaven from this past year. It\’s a great Tarkovskian cult film. Very dreamy and frightening stuff.

@MishuPishu I think you\’re slightly misremembering a scene from Ticket to Heaven in which David flees and goes to eat in a fast food place, but throws the food up. He doesn\’t deliberately try to vomit, though, it\’s a psycho/physiological reaction to not having eaten protein in so long, and he\’s alone, having temporarily escaped the cult.

"AS IT IS IN HEAVEN" and "THE CENTER" are two indie flicks about cults that blow films about cults out of the water! They both are independent films that premiered at Cinequest Film Festival. Amazing films. Watchthem

I will recommend this shortfilm about the theme "The guru" (search on YouTube with the words "LA GURÚ")
