12 Shows To Watch In June: ‘The Bear,’ ‘The Idol,’ ‘Secret Invasion’ & More

The Bear
Following its whirlwind success in season one, the little show that could “The Bear” returns for its second season. Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmie, a young chef who, following the death of his brother, returned home in season one to help run his failing restaurant. Following the finale, Carmie and his staff are left in preparations for a new launch of their restaurant, with more money and expectations. Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Abby Elliot, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson, Matty Matheson, and Oliver Platt will all reprise their roles. 
Release Date: Season 2 premieres June 22 on FX on Hulu.

I’m A Virgo
Sorry to Bother You” filmmaker Boots Riley returns with his new television series, “I’m a Virgo.” Jharrel Jerome stars as Cootie, a 13-foot-tall man who finds means of escape to experience the beauty and contradictions of the real world after being hidden away by his parents for the majority of his life. Brett Gray, Kara Young, Allius Barnes, Olivia Washington, Mike Epps, and Carmen Ejogo also star, with Tze Chun acting as co-showrunner to Riley. 
Release Date: The series premieres June 23 on Prime Video.

Hijack
Idris Elba stars in the latest thriller from Apple TV with “Hijack.” The series follows a crisis that takes place on a plane from Dubai to London when it’s hijacked over the course of a seven-hour flight, all the while authorities land bound scramble for answers. Elba stars as a businessman who must try and broker a deal in order to ensure a peaceful end. Jim Field Smith directs, while Archie Panjabi and Eve Myles also star. 
Release Date: The series premieres June 28 on Apple TV.

The Witcher
Henry Cavill fans will have one more stint with him as the lead in “The Witcher” for season three’s two parts before his Geralt of Rivia is replaced by Liam Hemsworth. The second part will air in late July, with season three focusing on the relationship between Geralt and Ciri as he takes her into hiding, determined to protect her and his newly-reunited family against any who try and threaten it. Freya Allen and Joey Batey also return. 
Release Date: Season 3 Volume 1 premieres June 29 on Netflix.
