Part way through this examination of two merging personalities and possible traumatic psychosis, the film melts and the films crew scrambles to get things back in order — including the film's director and cinematographer (Bergman and Sven Nykvist) themselves. One of the most jarring WTF meta-moments I've experienced (with the likely exception of Haneke's (original) Funny Games.
